What is Pilates?

Pilates is a functional form of movement which incorporates the movement of multiple muscle groups simultaneously. It was originally designed by Joseph Pilates for injured soldiers in WWI, and later he used it for dancers to increase their flexibility and strength.

Pilates strengthens the muscles that contribute to good posture. With each movement your core is engaged, and muscles are strengthened and stretched at the same time. Lean, rather than bulky, muscles are created. Structural imbalances are evened out, which helps to prevent injuries. Clients can take what they learn in Pilates and apply the principles to other activities and sports such as golf, tennis, surfing, etc.

The certified instructors at Bloom Pilates are careful to ensure that all of the movements are performed correctly and safely. They also coach clients in proper breathing techniques, because breath coordination is very important when performing any exercise, since it oxygenates the blood and detoxifies the body. Clients feel better after a Pilates session. They stand taller and feel more energized. And they see results!

Our Mission

Bloom Pilates strives to offer a Pilates studio with the following qualities:

  • Classes that are challenging and fun. Variety and diversity in the sessions ensure that clients will not get bored, and they will not feel like they are repeating the same class over and over again.
  • Classes that are tailored individually to each client’s level of ability. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced students are all taught with the same level of attention from the instructors. All ages, from teens to seniors, and all shapes and sizes, are welcome.
  • Regardless of the size of the class, each client receives a lot of personal attention from the instructors. They are very “present” at all times. Every client is constantly observed, and there are repeated and thorough reminders, cues, and corrections. Proper form and alignment is always emphasized.
  • Our studio is a warm, comfortable, and friendly environment. The instructors, and other clients, do not judge or make anyone feel uncomfortable. Everyone is supportive and empowering.
