Our Equipment

We currently have five brand new Balanced Body Reformer machines. All of our classes except Mat and Barre use the Reformers. Their function is to challenge the muscle groups with a system of pulleys and springs. Clients can work the legs, arms, abs, and back. Multiple muscle groups are activated at once, and clients are continuously being cued by the instructors to engage abdominal muscles to support the spine. There are several accessories that can be added to provide more variety in the classes, and there are literally hundreds of different exercises that can be performed on the Reformer. These machines can also be converted to Towers (see below for a more detailed explanation).

Levels of Ability

1 Basic Pilates concepts, more detailed explanations of neutral spine and breathing. Suitable for all beginners.
1.5 Basic Pilates with extra challenges for those who are ready. Movements require a bit more coordination and concentration.
2

Faster paced, more likely to incorporate plank exercises and more exercises requiring balance. Instructor will modify the level of difficulty if necessary.

Types of Classes

Private

These one on one sessions are scheduled with an instructor based on each person’s schedule. They cannot be booked through our online scheduling program.  A private class is highly recommended before joining a group class, even if you’ve done Pilates before at another studio. This ensures that your instructor is clear about your level of ability, and that you are working on the machines at the proper settings. You will learn in detail how each piece of equipment works, and which modifications you may need due to your body type and your pre-existing health issues and concerns.

Semi-Private

These classes usually consist of two students working with the instructor. They are also scheduled in advance and based on the instructor’s and the client’s schedule.  They cannot be booked through our online scheduling program.  Semi-Privates are more cost-effective than Privates. They are fun to do with a partner (spouse, relative, or friend). It is best if the partners are at a similar fitness level. Occasionally, if the timing works, it is possible to be matched up with someone you don’t know, who is at a similar fitness level. You will both receive the benefits of a Semi-Private lesson.

Group Classes

Due to the fact that our studio has five pieces of equipment, group classes are limited to 3 to 5 students. The classes are at set times every week. You may check out our schedule of group classes online, choose the level and the time that works for you, and book a class accordingly.

Tower Classes

Our five Reformer machines can be converted into Towers, and then they become stationary tables, still using springs. The class incorporates more stretching and mat style exercises. It is best for clients who prefer not to be lying or kneeling on a moving platform.

Jumpboard

Accessories such as jumpboards can be added to the Reformers to increase the cardio workout and make it more aerobic.

Mat

Mat classes can be less intimidating for many people because no machines are used. However, the classes can be harder because clients are using their own body weight to perform the exercises.

The classes consist of a lot of abdominal work and stretching. Props are also utilized such as rings, various size exercise balls, foam rolls, and free weights.

Barre

The owner of our studio is certified to teach Booty Barre classes. They are a fusion of yoga, Pilates, and ballet, performed to upbeat, fast-paced music. It is a good way to add cardio into your routine. You don’t have to get your foot on the barre or know how to dance to take the class, so don’t be intimidated!

Wunda Chair

Our Wunda Chair is used in private sessions. Clients work out primarily in an upright position on the chair. Basic to very difficult exercises can be performed on this machine, according to the client’s skill level.

Nutrition Classes

We will be offering nutrition classes and seminars with our Nutritional Therapist. This training will be offered on a periodic basis, with the emphasis on improving the health and vitality of our clients.
