amanda

Amanda Wilhoit (Owner)

Amanda is passionate about Pilates and she loves to share that passion with others. She began taking Pilates in 2006, and she found that it helped to decrease the neck and back pain which was brought on by having scoliosis and was exacerbated by working at a sedentary job. She gained strength in her postural muscles, her body awareness improved, and she just loved the way she felt after a session. She was also thrilled because Pilates had helped to decrease her pain. It was at that point that she decided she wanted to become an instructor and share the benefits of Pilates with others, and try to help them improve their health as well. She completed the Comprehensive Teacher Training Program at Body Arts and Science International in January, 2008. Since then she has also become certified to teach the Booty Barre method, which is a fusion of yoga, Pilates and dance.

Amanda taught for 8 years in a Pilates studio owned by a Physical Therapist, which reinforced the importance of focusing on proper form and alignment. Through the years she has continued to hone and improve her skills. She is always trying to educate herself and to keep current with the trends in her industry.

Amanda opened Bloom Pilates and Wellness Center in December of 2015. When she deliberated about what to name her new business, she decided to honor her late best friend Chris Bloom, who always encouraged her to challenge herself and to go outside of her comfort zone, and to “bloom” into the strong and confident woman he knew she could become. She took his words to heart, and now, many years later, she continues to love teaching and she genuinely treasures the relationships she has built with her clients.

Amanda became a new mom in October 2019, so she is busy keeping up with her daughter Frankie. She also enjoys taking her on walks on nearby trails and practicing yoga when she has time.

Karen Hilgert Moore

Karen Hilgert Moore is an enthusiastic and energetic fitness instructor committed to bringing her passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle to others. She is a perfect fit for Bloom Pilates! Born in Lima, Peru, Karen developed an interest in athletics and fitness at a young age. At age 21, she visited the United States and quickly fell in love with the California Coast and established Huntington Beach as her new home. It was discovering Yoga and Pilates that helped Karen reignite her passion for the support and community of group fitness classes. When Karen had two children, she chose to focus on them for the first few years. With the demands and challenges of motherhood, she found herself experiencing depression and anxiety. She had relied on fitness as her daily dose of healthy medicine and without it, there was an important piece of herself missing. Making time for herself and her health, Karen found she managed the stress in her life much better and felt healthier and more vibrant than she had in years.
Karen wanted to find balance in her life and she wanted to share the feelings of health and wellness with other moms just like her, and anyone seeking to look and feel better. With that she reestablished herself as a fitness professional and with her work finally aligned with her passions, Karen found the balance and wellness she sought. Karen obtained her Fitness instructor Certification through the American Fitness Aerobics Association (AFAA). She also completed a Barre and sculpt certification through BodybyLauren, PIYO, Zumba, RIPPED, Bootybarre, Treat while you train, Pop Pilates, and a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certificate after teacher training at underground Yoga.  She is Basi Pilates Certified.  Karen began teaching at Bloom Pilates in March of 2018.
